WEDDINGS
I'M HERE FOR THE JOY (and the cake)!
After more than a decade in the industry, my love of photographing couples and weddings is still growing. I think it’s the hopeless romantic in me, but it’s probably my insatiable curiosity. The hundreds of small connections between family and friends, who will likely never all be in the same room at the same time again, is weighty and wonderful.
The good news is, it’s not about me. I can’t tell an honest story if I’m constantly interfering, directing, and manipulating moments. I want your photos to render cherished memories from your day with your people, not memories of your photographer. Working with me will feel comfortable and relaxed. I don't overly pose, but provide gentle guidance in a way that still allows you to be present in the moment. We'll get to know one another throughout the process, so by the time the wedding day comes around, my presence won't feel intrusive at all but will feel calm and supportive.
I’m there to tell the beautiful and imperfect story as it unfolds. As time goes on and the details get fuzzy, you'll look back on the photos and things will be even sweeter in your memories. I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, this is always how life goes.

She has an open light vibe about her that will make you feel at ease. Our photos were exactly what we had hoped for and more.”

“Choosing Haverlee was hands-down our best choice of vendors for the big day. She's relaxed, professional, and fun! It was a joy to work with an artist who is quickly gaining momentum in her field, and whose passion is unmatched.”

Engagements
An engagement session is optional but always recommended. It gives us a stress-free chance to hang out and get to know each other better before the big day. It always takes people a little while to feel comfortable in front of the camera. This is a fun practice round! Think outside the box. Bookstores, coffee shops, a dive bar, a champagne picnic in the park, a canoe on a pond…the options are endless. Let’s go explore together. I get to learn a lot about you and we’ll all end up even more excited about your wedding day by the end!

“I cannot recommend Haverlee enough! Choosing her was an absolute no brainer. She's not just an incredible photographer, but a calming presence that helped ease any stress. She has an eye for capturing candid moments that truly tell the story of the day. Every photo delivered is timeless and something we will cherish for a lifetime!”
I have a million favorites from Olivia & Ken’s wedding at 1868 Farmhouse in Iowa. Even narrowing them down for my blog was difficult. The reason? They had so. much. fun. They had a dunk tank at their reception, for crying out loud. From tears streaming down their faces during their private vows, to the rip roaring dance floor, it was one for the books.
O & K, thank you for trusting me with these memories. It was truly an honor. Y’all are wonderful and so are your people.

It’s such an honor when folks ask me to photograph this stage of life. The postpartum stage with your first baby is one of the most vulnerable times of your life. Nothing can prepare you for that shift. So I don’t take it lightly entering people’s homes with a camera. I want to be a source of warmth, peace, and instill confidence in that new mama. (And sneak in some baby snuggles because that’s my drug of choice.)
I couldn’t wait to meet Preet & Sadiq’s baby. I knew he’d be beautiful, but come on. 🥺 I’m going to need updates like I’m an auntie.

It’s hard to narrow this one down to 20 images that tell the story of the rained out ceremony at Taylor & Aaron’s Chicago area wedding. The whole thing is blogged on my web site and it’s worth a visit on a bigger screen. 😄 Go to Haverlee.com, then click on galleries.
This is every bride’s worst nightmare. But I guarantee this wedding will stand out in everyone’s mind as one of the most joy-filled and fun events they’ve ever been to. Because as they say, the difference between an ordeal and an adventure is your attitude.

Kids at Weddings, Part ✌🏼.
They’re always so sweet, sometimes spicy, occasionally sleepy, and always surprising. But their real strength on a wedding day — they know how to tear up a dance floor best.
One of the highlights of 2025 was shooting Jenna & Neal’s wedding under the Spanish moss covered trees in coastal Georgia. It was just a few hours away from Jacob’s house in NC, so when Jenna asked me, it was an easy yes. I know exactly how wonderful this day felt for both of them. Finding a best friend who sees you, cherishes you, and wants to grow alongside you will not ever be taken for granted by these two. Their children bawled their sweet little eyes out through the whole ceremony, and Jenna was absolutely beaming all day. The details were stunning and the shrimp and grits we all got to eat at the reception were unbelievably good. A perfect southern wedding day. 🥂
Side note, a brother in law and nephew couldn’t be there because they had a competition in the Des Moines suburbs. 😂 The world is so delightfully small sometimes.
