I'M HERE FOR THE JOY (and the cake)!
After more than a decade in the industry, my love of photographing couples and weddings still grows each year. The hundreds of small connections between family and friends, who will likely never all be in the same room at the same time again, is weighty and wonderful.
The good news is, it’s not about me. I can’t tell an honest story if I’m constantly interfering, directing, and manipulating moments. I want your photos to render cherished memories from your day with your people, not memories of your photographer. Working with me will feel comfortable and relaxed. I don't overly pose, but provide gentle guidance in a way that still allows you to be present in the moment. We'll get to know one another throughout the process, so by the time the wedding day comes around, my presence won't feel intrusive at all but will feel calm and supportive.
I’m there to tell the beautiful and imperfect story as it unfolds. As time goes on and the details get fuzzy, you'll look back on the photos and things will be even sweeter in your memories. I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, this is always how life goes.

all packages includE AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION, AND a minimum of EIGHT HOURS OF WEDDING DAY COVERAGE, FROM GETTING the dress on THROUGH special dances. YOU'LL RECEIVE A CUSTOM DIGITAL GALLERY WITH RIGHTS TO PRINT, DOWNLOAD, & SHARE. WE'LL HAVE A BRIEF INITIAL MEETING TO DISCUSS YOUR VISION & GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER TO ENSURE A GREAT FIT.
Hourly coverage available for small weddings.
(No travel fees within three hours of Des Moines, Western North Carolina, Denver, or Atlanta. Please inquire about other locations. Travel fees are at-cost and kept as minimal as possible.)

Engagements
An engagement session is optional but always recommended. It gives us a stress-free chance to hang out and get to know each other better before the big day. It always takes people a little while to feel comfortable in front of the camera. This is a fun practice round! Think outside the box. Bookstores, coffee shops, a dive bar, a champagne picnic in the park, a canoe on a pond…the options are endless. Let’s go explore together. I get to learn a lot about you and we’ll all end up even more excited about your wedding day by the end!

Gaining the trust of my clients is probably the most important part of the process for me. It’s really the only way to create photos that feel effortless. This wedding day with Edie & Gavin was a bit of a roller coaster, with unexpected illness, pop up thunderstorms, and a couple of other wild cards, but you’d really never know any of that from these photos. They worked through all of it with grace and trusted my lead. The overwhelming feeling at day’s end was unbridled joy. Their reception will be one I won’t ever forget. So much love, pride, and happiness in the room, and I felt so lucky to be the outsider getting to witness it all.

Sessions with these three are always a bright spot in my schedule. Their daughter is spunky and smart and they’re such tender parents. I do lots of chatting with Marin between photos and she always chooses to hold my hand when we’re walking around. 😌 I always take time to chit chat with kiddos before I do any directing, and sessions always involve plenty of movement and exploring. Usually feels more like a play date than a photo shoot. 🤍
Jadyn & Peyton’s West Des Moines wedding was so much fun. I wish you could have seen the way the bridesmaids belted out Enchanted by Taylor Swift after she got in her dress. And the tears flowing down her sister’s cheeks through so much of the day. And the little boy who handed her a dandelion at the park because he thought she looked beautiful. And I wish you could have seen how proud and delighted their families were, and heard the incredible speeches about these two. Instead I’ll leave you with little glimpses of the overwhelming joy contained in one day.
